Baclofen is prescribed to patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It relieves such symptoms of this condition as pain, stiffness and spasm. The first results will become obvious only after two weeks of the treatment – you need to stick to the dosing schedule recommended by your doctor to ensure success. Unless otherwise recommended by your health care provider, take baclofen with a glass of water, with some food or without. Your doctor may decide to change your dosage to make sure you are benefitting from the treatment. Although this medicine is tolerated well by most patients, others report certain mild effects as dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, headache, constipation, urinating more often and insomnia. These side effects are likely to go away on their own as the treatment continues.

Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, a history of blood clots, or any seizure disorder, as these conditions can interfere with your treatment. If your doctor thinks you need to stop taking baclofen he will most probably recommend you to withdraw gradually, as otherwise some unpleasant symptoms (hallucinations, seizures) may occur. Baclofen is not intended for people younger than 12 and is available only by prescription.
